Culture, Heritage and Traditions

One of the oldest buildings in the area is the St. Joseph Church (2757 St. Joseph Blvd.). Completed in 1920, the Church was featured in Doors Open Ottawa 2012 and as part of a Jane’s Walk Ottawa 2012 heritage tour of St. Joseph Blvd.

The community is also home to Taffy Lane, where crowds gather each December to see amazing Christmas light displays.

Adjacent to the area is the Shenkman Arts Centre (245 Cetrum Blvd.), which offers performing arts presentations, visual art exhibitions and hands-on instruction.  The Centre is also home to the annual Orleans Festival, a showcase of performing arts, culinary arts, visual arts, artisans and a kids’ zone.
